Kitchen Remodel Timeline in Las Vegas: Week-by-Week (2026)

How long a kitchen remodel really takes in Las Vegas — design, permits, demo, rough-in, cabinets and finish — broken down week by week with the things that most often slip the schedule.

Las Vegas kitchen remodel mid-construction — framing, rough-in plumbing and electrical visible
Direct answer: A full Las Vegas kitchen remodel takes 4–8 weeks of design + selections, 1–3 weeks of permit review with Clark County or City of Las Vegas / Henderson, and 8–14 weeks of on-site construction. Total elapsed time: 4–6 months from first meeting to final walk-through.

Almost every kitchen homeowner asks the same question first: how long will my kitchen be unusable? The honest answer depends on scope — a refresh inside the existing footprint moves much faster than a full structural reconfiguration. This guide walks through both, week by week, using the actual schedule Build4U runs on Henderson, Summerlin and Las Vegas kitchen projects.

Phase 1 — Design & selections (4–8 weeks)

This is where the project actually gets built. We measure the existing kitchen, talk through how you use it, draft a layout, and price it. You then lock cabinetry profile, stone slab, hardware, lighting and appliance package. Skipping selections to 'figure it out later' is the #1 reason remodels go over schedule — every undecided item becomes a hold-point later.

Phase 2 — Permits & plan review (1–3 weeks)

Most Las Vegas kitchen permits go through Clark County Building & Safety; Henderson and the City of Las Vegas have their own jurisdictions for projects inside city limits. Plan review is typically 7–14 business days. Structural permits (wall removal, beam) add a week and require stamped engineering. Build4U pulls and manages all permits.

Phase 3 — Material lead time (runs in parallel)

Cabinetry is almost always the long pole. Semi-custom: 6–8 weeks from order. Custom inset: 10–14 weeks. We order cabinetry the day design locks so they arrive on the dock right as drywall is going up. Stone slabs are sourced earlier and held — there's a 4–8 week window between picking the slab and it being templated against installed cabinets.

Phase 4 — On-site construction (8–14 weeks)

This is the part most homeowners think of as 'the remodel.' Once demo starts the schedule is dense, and every week has clear deliverables:

  • Week 1 — Demo: kitchen out, dump runs, zip walls up, floor protection installed.
  • Week 2 — Framing: any wall removal, structural beam set, blocking added for cabinets and hood.
  • Weeks 2–3 — Rough MEP: plumbing relocated, electrical rough-in for outlets / under-cab / island, HVAC adjustments.
  • Week 4 — Inspections + drywall: pass rough inspections, hang and tape sheetrock, prime walls.
  • Weeks 5–6 — Cabinets: boxes set level, doors and drawer fronts hung, fillers and toe-kicks scribed.
  • Weeks 6–8 — Stone: template against installed cabinets, fabricate, install with sink cutout.
  • Weeks 7–9 — Tile, flooring, paint: backsplash, floor tile if scope, final paint and trim.
  • Weeks 10–11 — Appliances + final MEP: plumb fixtures, hang lights, set appliances, test everything.
  • Weeks 12–14 — Punch + final walk: final inspection, punch list cleanup, deep clean, hand-off.

What most often slips the schedule

  • Late selections — backsplash or hardware undecided when it's needed on-site costs days each.
  • Structural surprises — opening a wall in a pre-1995 Las Vegas home sometimes reveals aluminum wiring or undersized framing that has to be brought to code.
  • Stone slab availability — picking a one-of-a-kind quartzite the yard doesn't have in stock means waiting for the next container.
  • Inspection re-checks — usually one item flagged and resolved same-week, occasionally two days lost.
  • Custom cabinetry damage in shipping — rare but happens; the affected piece is rebuilt while the install continues.

Refresh vs full remodel timeline

A tier-1 refresh (paint, counters, hardware, no layout change) compresses everything: 2–3 weeks of selections, no permits if no plumbing or electrical changes, and 3–5 weeks on-site. A tier-3 structural remodel with custom inset cabinetry pushes the long end of the timeline — 8 weeks of design, 3 weeks of permits, 14 weeks on-site. See our

Can we live in the house during the remodel?

Most Las Vegas families do. We isolate the kitchen with zip walls and dust barriers, protect adjacent flooring, and set up a temporary kitchenette (microwave, mini-fridge, electric kettle, hot plate) in the dining or laundry room. Plan on grilling, simple meals and takeout for the cabinet-through-finish phase. The water and gas to the kitchen are off for roughly 10 days mid-project.
